  • Step 3: Testing

St. Timothy's School understands that standardized testing is not the only way to showcase an applicant's academic abilities. For this reason, St. Timothy's is a test-optional school; students may apply without submitting standardized test scores (SSAT or ISEE).

We will continue to accept SSAT and ISEE exams scores for those who wish submit. SSAT registration information is available at www.ssat.org (St.Timothy’s school code 6994); registration for the ISEE may be found at www.erblearn.org (St. Timothy’s school code 210990).

Candidates for grades 11 and 12 may wish to submit the results of the PSAT, SAT, or ACT in lieu of the SSAT or ISEE.

Students for whom English is a second language are required to take the TOEFL or TOEFL Jr. (Test of English as a Foreign Language; www.ets.org, St. Timothy’s code 8143). Students may also choose to submit results via the Duolingo English Test.
  • Step 4: Recommendations

Recommendations are required from the following: your current English teacher, math teacher, and principal, advisor, or guidance counselor. There is also an optional form for applicants who would like to ask a favorite teacher for a recommendation.
  • Step 5: Transcripts

Please submit transcripts from the current school year as well as the previous two school years. If you have changed schools, please send transcripts from all institutions.
  • Step 6: Character Skills Snapshot

Character and personal growth are an integral part of a St. Timothy's education. Grades and test scores just don't tell us the whole story of your child. The Character Skills Snapshot gives us richer holistic information and illuminates areas where St. Timothy's can help your child grow.

While the Character Skills Snapshot is optional to submit, it is strongly recommended.  For students who take the SSAT, the Snapshot can be purchased as an add-on with an SSAT for $25.

Students who do not choose to submit the SSAT but do choose to submit the Character Skills Snapshot will need to pay a $50 fee. Students who do choose to submit the SSAT can purchase the Character Skills Snapshot as an add-on with an SSAT submission for $25. As the Character Skills Snapshot is an optional part of the application process, fee waivers are not available.
